First learning and playing space in the hospital for sick children in Burundi.

On July 13th, 2022, under the high patronage of the Public Health Ministry, Nacham Africa opened the Kina space for games and learning at the Prince Louis Rwagasore Clinic.

The day began with a visit to the Kina Space guided by Mrs. Espérance Bagona. 

Mrs. Espérance explained that the space is made up of room for toys, reading, coloring, and singing for convalescent children according to their age and another consisting of a football field and recreation for children accompanying parents.

In his welcoming speech, The Director of Prince Louis Rwagasore clinic, Dr. Bonite Havyarimana stated that the psycho-affective wellbeing of a child during a hospital stay is a positive factor for a swift recovery and appreciated the contribution of Nacham Africa to quality health care through that initiative. 

The Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS is delighted with the step taken by Nacham Africa on this day to join the efforts of the Government of Burundi in the promotion of health during early childhood. Said Mrs. Pascaline Niyonkuru the representative of The Public Health Ministry.

The Public Affairs officer at the US Embassy-Burundi Mrs. Karin Ehlert took the opportunity to thank Nacham Africa for the opening of the Kina center which supports the right of children to play and learn while at the hospital for treatment or accompanying a parent and expressed her willingness to support this work.

According to Armand Ijimbere, the Executive Director of Nacham Africa, the kina space is an innovation that Nacham Africa plans to duplicate in several public hospitals. He thanked also for the toys and learning materials donated by the US embassy staff and marines which make the space friendly and lively.
