The
Nacham Africa team visited Kabezi District Hospital, both Site 1 and Site 2, to
meet with the beneficiaries of the nutrition program launched two weeks
earlier. This initiative, recently extended to include Kabezi District
Hospital, aims to support hospitalized patients living in precarious conditions
by providing them with balanced meals—an essential element in promoting faster
and more sustainable recovery.
The
visit, which took place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, had several key
objectives: to observe how the activities are being implemented on the ground,
to assess their progress, and to strengthen ties between Nacham Africa, the
medical staff, and the patients. It also served as the official introduction of
the Nacham Africa team to the hospital community.
Upon
arrival at Site 2, the team was warmly welcomed by the Director of Kabezi
District Hospital, Dr. Sébastien Mube, who opened the gathering with a
heartfelt speech. He emphasized the vital role of nutrition in the healing
process:
“Good
nutrition is essential because it gives our antibodies the strength they need
to fight disease. In the past, our patients took longer to recover due to lack
of food. We sincerely thank Nacham Africa for their support in this struggle
we’ve been facing for so long.”
He
then handed the floor to Dr. Régis Nzoyisaba, Director of Programs at
Nacham Africa. Speaking on behalf of the organization, Dr. Nzoyisaba expressed
his deep respect and appreciation for both the patients and the hospital staff
for their warm welcome. He then invited everyone to come forward with their
cups to be served breakfast.
After
this convivial moment, the team continued to Site 1, where they were once again
warmly received and took part in distributing breakfast.
Later
in the day, during lunch service, the Nacham Africa team again lent a hand.
This time also provided a special opportunity for more in-depth conversations
with patients, caregivers, and medical staff. These exchanges were filled with
gratitude, with many sharing positive testimonies about the health improvements
they had already observed since the program began.
Through
this visit, Nacham Africa reaffirms its commitment to supporting vulnerable
individuals.
