As a key player in promoting mental health in Burundi, Nacham Africa was invited by the Ministry of Health to take part in the commemoration of World Mental Health Day, held on Friday, October 24th, in Gitaza, Muhuta District.
This year’s theme, “Getting help at any time, a right for all,” guided the day’s discussions and activities. The event opened with remarks from the representative of the governor of Bujumbura Province and the representative of the @who Burundi, both emphasizing the importance of accessible mental health services for all.

When given the floor, Nacham Africa presented a theatrical performance illustrating the root causes of mental disorders, the stigma and mistreatment often faced by people living with mental illness, and the positive change that comes when they receive the care and understanding they need.

The event concluded with a speech by the Minister of Public Health and the Fight Against AIDS, Ms. Lyduine Baradahana, who reminded participants:
“When a person seeks help in time, the chances of recovery are very high.”
She encouraged the public to break the taboos surrounding mental health and to seek professional help without fear or shame. The Minister also thanked Nacham Africa for its impactful play.
