Nacham Africa Leads Mental Health Outreach in health centers accross Rumonge

 / January 20,2026

From 13–15 January 2026, NACHAM AFRICA in Collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health conducted Mental health awareness sessions in Rumonge Commune, Burunga Province, using community theatre and open dialogue to challenge stigma and spark conversations. The powerful theatre performance was based on real-life stories, family violence, inheritance conflicts, and the marginalization of widows.

Over 500 patients at Rumonge Hospital, Cabara Communal Hospital, and Kizuka Health Center engaged in learning and reflection.

“I now understand that mental illness is not a curse and that help is possible,” shared one participant. The sessions also highlighted the important role of local leaders in helping families access Mental health care.

Participants committed to becoming mental health awareness ambassadors in their communities, sharing knowledge, preventing harmful situations, and encouraging timely care.
