Nacham Africa is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the recovery of the most vulnerable patients in Burundi by integrating nutrition into hospital care and strengthening families’ livelihoods after hospital discharge.
POSITION SUMMARY
Nacham Africa is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical and proactive Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer to strengthen the organization’s systems for tracking results, measuring impact and generating evidence for decision-making. The MEL Officer will support program teams to collect, analyze and use reliable data to improve program quality, accountability and learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop, strengthen and maintain Nacham Africa’s monitoring, evaluation and learning framework, tools and processes.
• Support the development and review of program logical frameworks, theories of change, indicators, targets and results frameworks.
• Develop data-collection tools, reporting templates and monitoring systems aligned with program objectives and donor requirements.
• Coordinate routine data collection, verification, cleaning, analysis and reporting across projects and program sites.
• Conduct regular field monitoring visits to assess implementation progress, data quality and achievement of planned results.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date program databases and ensure secure management of monitoring and evaluation information.
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and produce clear dashboards, reports, summaries and visualizations for management and partners.
• Support baseline, midline, end line, outcome and impact assessments, as well as other evaluations and learning activities.
• Work closely with program and operations teams to identify challenges, document lessons learned and recommend corrective actions.
• Contribute to donor reports, annual reports, program reviews and organizational performance reporting.
• Promote a culture of evidence-based decision-making, reflection and continuous learning across Nacham Africa.
• Support staff and partners in understanding MEL tools, indicators, data-quality standards and reporting requirements.
• Ensure that monitoring activities respect ethical standards, confidentiality, safeguarding principles and responsible data management.
• Undertake other MEL-related responsibilities assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• A university degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, Data Science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, program quality, research, data management or a related position.
• Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and interpretation.
• Demonstrated experience developing indicators, data-collection tools, reporting systems and results frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data-management or analysis tools. Knowledge of Power BI, KoboToolbox, ODK, SPSS, Stata or similar tools is an advantage.
• Strong report-writing, documentation and presentation skills.
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Experience in the nonprofit, health, nutrition, humanitarian or development sector is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
