ABOUT NACHAM AFRICA
Nacham Africa is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the recovery of the most vulnerable patients in Burundi by integrating nutrition into hospital care and strengthening families’ livelihoods after hospital discharge.
POSITION SUMMARY
Nacham Africa is seeking a creative, proactive and results-oriented Communications Officer to strengthen the organization’s visibility, public engagement and communications. The successful candidate will lead day-to-day communications across digital and traditional platforms and support the communication of NACHAM AFRICA’s programs, impact and key messages.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement Nacham Africa’s communication strategy and annual communication plan.
• Manage and strengthen the organization’s website, social media platforms and other digital channels.
• Create and coordinate high-quality communication content, including articles, newsletters, press releases, stories, brochures, presentations, infographics, photos and videos.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with local, national and international media and communication partners.
• Develop communication campaigns and awareness materials related to nutrition, health and other organizational priorities.
• Document and communicate program activities, achievements, human-interest stories and organizational impact.
• Support the planning and communication of events, workshops, conferences, campaigns and stakeholder engagements.
• Write, edit and translate communication materials between French and English.
• Ensure consistency of Nacham Africa’s branding, tone of voice and key messages across communication channels.
• Monitor communication performance and prepare regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
• Support internal communication and other communication-related tasks assigned by management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field is preferred. A relevant secondary school diploma with strong professional experience may also be considered.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications, public relations, media, digital communication or a related role.
• Excellent written and spoken French and English.
• Strong writing, editing, storytelling and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content.
• Good knowledge of graphic design and content-creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe tools or equivalent).
• Experience with website/content management and basic digital analytics is an advantage.
• Experience in the nonprofit, health, nutrition or development sector is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and take initiative.
• Creativity, professionalism, attention to detail and commitment to Nacham Africa’s mission.
