Our mental health awareness campaign across Burundi continues. This time, the Nacham Africa team visited the communities of Mpanda District from April 28th to 30th.
With the support of the Ministry of Health, the campaign aims to ensure that the majority of burundians is informed about the importance of mental health, how to care for it and how to support those whose mental well-being is affected.
To make the message accessible and impactful, Nacham Africa uses theatre performances that illustrate the causes of mental health challenges, their effects on individuals, families, and communities, as well as ways to prevent them.
The performances were well received by over 1,600 people at Kivyuka, Musigati, and Bubanza markets. Following the theatre, the team engaged participants through guided discussions. Many shared their new understanding of mental health and committed to changing their attitudes toward people living with mental health conditions.
